Privacy Policy
Last updated September 24, 2026
Crumbtrail (“we”, “us”) runs crumbtrail.app, where creators build review maps and fans explore them. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. The short version: we collect as little as we can, we don’t sell your information, and we don’t use advertising trackers.
1. If you’re a fan viewing a map
- You don’t need an account, and we don’t ask who you are.
- Visit counts. When a public map is opened, or a review’s video link is tapped, we record that it happened: which map, which review, and when. We don’t record who you are with it. Creators’ and our own visits aren’t counted.
- Your location. If you tap “Nearest”, your browser asks for your location. It’s used only inside your browser to sort places by distance. It’s never sent to us or stored.
2. If you’re a creator with an account
- Account: your email address, which we use to send your login links.
- Your map: the details you enter, such as your map name, social handle, tagline, home city, brand color, logo, and your reviews (places, addresses, map locations, scores, notes, visit dates and video links). Most of this is shown publicly on your map once it’s live.
- Billing: if you upgrade, payments are handled by Stripe. We never see or store your card number. We keep your Stripe customer ID, your plan and your subscription status.
- Messages: anything you send us by email.
3. Information collected automatically
Like almost every website, the companies that host and run parts of Crumbtrail automatically receive technical details such as your IP address, browser type and the pages requested. This is used to deliver the site, keep it secure and fix problems.
4. Cookies and browser storage
- Creators who log in get a login cookie that keeps them signed in. We don’t use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
- Public maps save a small note in your browser (“session storage”) so that refreshing a map doesn’t count as a second visit. It’s cleared when you close the tab.
5. How we use information
- To run Crumbtrail: log you in, save and show your map, and handle your plan.
- To send emails you need, such as login links and billing notices.
- To answer your questions and give support.
- To understand how Crumbtrail is used, from totals like the number of map views and video clicks.
- To keep the service secure, prevent abuse and follow the law.
6. Who we share it with
We don’t sell your personal information, and we don’t share it for advertising. We share it only with:
- Service providers that run parts of Crumbtrail for us: Vercel (website hosting), Supabase (database and logins), Stripe (payments), Mapbox (maps and place search) and Resend (email delivery). They may only use it to provide their services to us.
- Everyone, for public content. A live map, and everything on it, can be seen by anyone with the link and by search engines. Free-plan maps stay private.
- When required. If the law requires it, or to protect the rights and safety of our users, the public or Crumbtrail.
- If Crumbtrail changes hands. If the business is sold or merged, this information may transfer, and this policy will keep applying to it.
Our providers may process information in the United States and other countries.
7. How long we keep it
- We keep your account and map while your account is open.
- Reviews you delete are removed from your map straight away.
- If you ask us to close your account, we’ll delete your account and map within 30 days, except records we must keep by law, such as billing records.
- Visit counts don’t identify anyone and may be kept to show totals over time.
8. Your choices
- You can see and edit your map and reviews any time in your studio.
- You can ask us for a copy of your information, to correct it, or to delete your account, by emailing crumbtrailmaps@gmail.com.
- We only email you what you need to use Crumbtrail, like login links and billing notices. We don’t send marketing emails without your permission.
9. Children and teens
Crumbtrail isn’t meant for children under 13, and they may not create an account. We don’t knowingly collect information from children under 13. If we learn we have, we’ll delete it. Creators aged 13 to 17 need a parent’s or guardian’s permission (see our Terms of Service). A parent or guardian can contact us at crumbtrailmaps@gmail.com to review or delete their teen’s information.
10. Security
We use reasonable safeguards, such as encrypted connections and access rules that keep each creator’s account separate. No system is perfectly secure, so please keep your email account safe, since that’s how you log in.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as Crumbtrail changes. If a change is significant, we’ll let creators know by email or in the studio. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
